100 percent pure water for streak-free cleaning
Pure water is, as its name suggests, pure water. Conventional water from the tap contains minerals that can become visible after drying, such as annoying limescale stains. Special filter systems reliably extract the minerals from tap water. At the end of the process, pure water is obtained for optimum window cleaning.
Cleaning with pure water is recommended on particularly smooth surfaces. Initially, this technology was mainly used for cleaning photovoltaic systems. However, pure water also has many advantages when cleaning large window facades. This is because conventional water contains lime and roughens the surfaces, which in turn makes them susceptible to dirt particles. In addition, the use of pure water provides environmentally friendly cleaning, as chemical agents such as soaps etc. no longer have to be used. This means that surfactants no longer end up in the wastewater or have to be disposed of at great expense. That brings us directly to the next big advantage of pure water cleaning: Costs and efficiency. Pure water has outstanding cleaning power. Thanks to its physical properties, it picks up dirt from the surface. The result: streak-free cleanliness without the addition of chemicals or soap. Water-fed pole systems such as the UNGER nLite® are particularly recommended for use at greater heights for a safe and effective method of cleaning without expensive scaffolding or lifting platforms.
You can use pure water to clean window panes effectively and cleanly
The tools should be as pure as the water. Only use completely clean brushes for cleaning with pure water. Tap water is best for cleaning, as the quality of well water cannot be guaranteed. When demineralising tap water, the water should ideally have a TDS value of 0 ppm. The water can be used up to a value of 10 ppm – however it is then advisable to change the resin.
Correct thorough cleaning is essential to achieve streak-free results. If the surface has been traditionally cleaned beforehand, tiny particles such as surfactants can settle on the glass structure. In this case, two to three cleaning cycles with pure water are recommended to remove all residues. The glass surface must be rinsed regularly during the cleaning process. The optimum amount of pure water is used when a continuous film of water forms over the entire pane.
Window cleaning with pure water: Ecological, economical, ergonomic
With the water-fed nLITE poles and the HydroPower pure water cleaning system, glass cleaning without the use of chemicals can be carried out up to a height of 20 metres – safely from the floor and without drying and polishing. In our video, we show you how to guide the poles to ensure spot-free cleaning without great physical effort (Link to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hByVkykGNks).
The best way to clean windows without streaks is first to clean the frames, then remove coarse dirt from the glass surface and then start cleaning the glass. Dirt often accumulates in the joints and crevices of the frames, which would otherwise be spread over the surface. And as always: Clean the surface from top to bottom in slight V movements.
Be careful with varnished, oiled or untreated wooden windows! Pure water can dissolve tannins and oils that soil the glass. The same applies to acrylic or plexiglass panes: Due to their static charge, the smallest dust particles can remain on the surface. This may scratch the soft material during the cleaning process. Use a particularly soft brush and plenty of water.
All tips for professional, streak-free window cleaning with pure water at a glance:
- Use tap water
- Thoroughly remove previous soiling
- Work with a clean brush
- Pay attention to the order: Clean the frame, remove dirt particles from the glass surface, clean with pure water
- Remove any surfactant residues
- Do not use water sparingly and rinse the surface regularly
- Optimum TDS value: 0 ppm
- Clean properly: Always from top to bottom and in slight V-movements
- Be careful with wooden frames, acrylic and plexiglass
Following these tips, you will achieve guaranteed streak-free results when cleaning windows with pure water.
