Position: Customer Service Representative

Introduction:
We are seeking candidates for the position of Customer Service Representative to be located in our U.S. headquarters in Bridgeport. A fast-growing, privately-held family of companies, the Unger Companies had their start in Germany as a specialized manufacturer of window cleaning tools. The Companies have become a leading global manufacturer of professional and retail cleaning and maintenance tools with Fortune 100 customers. Unger products are sold in more than 80 countries. Unger has operations in the United States, Germany, and India.
The Customer Service Representative role reports to the Retail Customer Service Manager, and works closely with the Unger Industrial President, Vice Presidents, Sales, and Customer Service team. The incumbent will provide service to Unger and to our customers and distributors.
Since its inception, Unger has placed great value on outstanding customer service. Using the telephone, fax, email, presentations, and meetings, the Customer Service Representative provides Unger customers with solutions and answers. The role includes order entry, invoicing, tracking, credit checks, following up on new account orders, and verifying that samples have been correctly shipped.
An attractive compensation package consisting of an hourly salary, bonus, potential overtime and excellent benefits is available. We are seeking local candidates only who reside within commuting distance of our Bridgeport location.
Key Qualifications:
- A relevant (for example, Psychology or Business Administration) Bachelor’s degree is not required, but is preferred.
- At least two years of customer service and/or sales support experience in roles providing service to customers over the telephone, by fax and email, and in person is required. Experience with Home Depot and/or other retail customers is preferred.
- Prior order entry, invoicing, electronic data invoicing (EDI), and customer data base maintenance experience is preferred.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook skills are required.
Additional Qualifications:
- The ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and balance multiple priorities.
- The ability to interact with all levels of our organization, including senior executives, shipping, manufacturing, and distribution personnel.
- The ability to work independently and proactively, yet cooperate and fit into a team. This includes the ability to work within existing guidelines and procedures, yet proactively recommend improvements when change is needed.
